Beth Ulrich, EdD, RN, FACHE, FAAN, brings her editorial expertise in nursing publications to the Nephrology Nursing Journal. She is currently the Senior Vice President, Professional and Consulting Services for the Gannett Healthcare Group, a multi-media company which includes Nursing Spectrum, NurseWeek, Nurse.com and also provides conitnuing education, research, and consultative services. Beth has extensive senior executive experience, having served in COO and Senior Vice President positions in both hospitals and large health care systems. She has served ANNA as Secretary and Vice President for the Southeast Region, and as President of ANNA in 1984-85.

Karen C. Robbins, MS, RN, CNN, is the Nurse Educator for Dialysis Services, Transplant and Advanced Organ Support at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. She has held numerous past positions within the American Nephrology Nurses’ Association (ANNA), including past National President (1998), President-Elect (1997), National Treasurer (1993-1995), and Northeast Region Vice President (1991-1993). She was recognized for her contributions to ANNA in 2003 when she was awarded “The Outstanding Contribution to ANNA Award,” the association’s most prestigious award.

Ms. Robbins is also a prominent past author for health care publications such as the Nephrology Nursing Journal, ANNA Journal, Nephrology News & Issues, and Plastic Surgical Nursing Journal. In addition, she has co-authored chapters in several nursing textbooks, including the first and second editions of Contemporary Nephrology Nursing and Critical Care Nursing. She served as a Director for the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) and is a member of numerous nursing/nephrology associations, including the Connecticut Nurses’ Association, Sigma Theta Tau International and the National Kidney Foundation.

Deborah Brooks, MSN, RN, ANP, CNN, Editorial Board member, is a Research Coordinator and Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Nephrology at the Medical University of South Carolina. She has been a nephrology nurse since 1980 and has been active in ANNA in a number of capacities.

Paula Dutka, MSN, RN, CNN, Editorial Board member, functions in an advanced practice capacity as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Winthrop-University Hospital, in Long Island, NY. Her multi-faceted role encompasses three areas of practice, including research, staff education, and management. Paula is a past president of the Long Island Chapter of ANNA, an ANNA item writer, and has served as a manuscript reviewer.

Holly McFarland, MSN, RN, CNN, is a clinical nurse specialist with 23 years of nephrology nursing experience and has her own renal consulting business. She had held several chapter officer positions and is currently president of the Tar River Chapter in NC. She served two years as advisor for the National Management Symposium, was on the ANNA Education Committee for the same period, and has been a member of the Hemodialysis SIG Committee.

Christine Mudge, MS, RN, PNPc, FAAN, CNN, is the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in hepatology/nephrology and pediatric transplantation at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). She also serves as Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF and has held numerous past positions within the American Nephrology Nurses' Association (ANNA), including Western Region Vice President and National Symposium Advisor.
Christine is also a noted past author for nephrology publications such as the American Journal of Kidney Diseases and Mosby's Clinical Nursing Series, and was a co-author on the transplantation chapter in ANNA's Contemporary Nephrology Nursing (1998). She is a frequent presenter on nephrology, transplant, and pediatrics topics at national meetings throughout the United States.
